GUAVABERRY GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
Our team of eight played from Tuesday, July 3rd to Thursday, July 5th at the Guavaberry Golf & Country Club in the Dominican Republic. The course played 6883 for boys 16 -17; 5774 for boys 11-13 and girls 14-15; and 5147 for girls 11-13. Juniors are required to walk with their bags during the three day tournament. The weather was great except for the last day when we had a 15 minute downpour. Overall, the course was in great condition.
RESULTS
The Caribbean Junior Amateur Championships is made up of teams from the Bahamas, Barbados, Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, OECS, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago and the U.S. Virgin Islands. All islands brought teams except for the Cayman Islands who had one player. Puerto Rico won the tournament and Trinidad & Tobago placed second. The Virgin Islands team placed sixth, one up from last year. Jennifer Prendergast placed 4th out of 12 participants in her division and Taylor Singh placed 9th out of 18 participants in his division. All others contributed points to our team standing. Congratulations to all team members for participating.
